Before we can submit your application to the DGT, you must access the following web pages to obtain a verification code (check code) of your British licence. It is essential to communicate this code at the time of submitting the application so that its validity can be verified.

If your licence has been issued by Great Britain (DVLA) you must access the following address: https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
If your licence has been issued by Northern Ireland (DVA) you must access the following address: https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/services/view-or-share-your-driving-licence-information.
If your licence has been issued by Gibraltar (DVDL) it is not necessary to obtain a code. It will be verified via email by Headquarters. - Simply upload another copy of the front of your driving licence in this field instead.

Surrender Current Licence

I understand that I must surrender my current licence on the day of exchange and the Spanish Licence will be sent out by post (rough timescale is your new licence will arrive up to twelve (12) weeks after). I will not try and get a duplicate copy of the licences I have handed in as this will only cause extra delay and expense as we will need to resubmit your licence.

Note: You will get a stamped copy of your receipt exchange that will allow you to drive in Spain as you wait for your Full Licence.Surrender Current Licence

Digital Certificate

I understand that a Digital Certificate or Cl@ve credential is required for Torrevieja to perform this service on my behalf. I hereby confirm that I have these options available to me or that I will be obtaining this either myself or via Torrevieja Translators in order to facilitate this service. I also understand that delays can occur if I do not currently have a Digital Certificate or Cl@ve.

Valid Residencia

I understand that I must have a valid original Residencia (and a Padrón, if your address does not match your Residencia). We always recommend you have an up to date Padrón. I have not made my Residencia unreadable and I will hand over the original as copies will not be accepted.

Valid Driver's Medical Certificate

I understand that I must have a valid driver’s medical certificate to exchange my current Licence for a Spanish Car/Bike Licence (or the enhanced medical certificate if I wish to keep additional categories on my licence other than Car or Bike). Torrevieja Translators will be happy to book the appointment for you; you must, however, attend this part yourself.

Photos for Licence

I understand that I will need up to date ‘Spanish Driving Licence Size’ photos for my new licence. You can take these at any photo booth, or most opticians offer this service. Two (2) identical passport-sized photographs (30 x 40 mm).
